Seven months after recording his second CD live at the Amazing Things Art Center in Framingham, Dan will release the album, “Live at the Masquerade Ball,” Sat., Nov. 7, 8 p.m., at Amazing Things, 160 Hollis Street.
The album has already received airplay on FM 100.7 WZLX’s Sunday Morning Blues Show, is about to be picked up by other stations, and has received positive reviews from Boston area press. "Cloutier proves his musical clout without flaunting it, leaving this audience in good spirits and satisfied,” according to The Noise magazine of Boston. Insite Boston Magazine said, “Cloutier puts his money where his mouth is. On and off stage one can be proud to be a fan of Dan."
Cloutier, a resident of Upton, will assemble his band for the show, including Kim Jennings of Worcester, Dennis Pearne of Framingham, and Ricardo Barraza of Grafton. Cloutier is the host of Amazing Thing’s weekly folk open mike and has been playing the Boston folk scene for more than a decade, opening for such artists as John Hiatt, Richie Havens, Ellis Paul, Vance Gilbert, John Gorka, and Les Sampou. In addition to local venues, he has performed at Club Passim, Tupelo Music Hall, and has featured in several area fundraisers. This summer he also performed on NECN's coffeehouse segment. His first album, “Bottles and Seeds,” was released in 2006.
“Live at the Masquerade Ball” is also the first release of Birch Beer Records, the region’s newest folk music record label based out of Worcester and Upton MA.
